Dane Dash was a key figure in the rise of the Roc-A-Fella Empire, a legendary record label that dominated the hip-hop scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The Roc-A-Fella Empire was founded by Dash, along with Jay-Z and Kareem "Biggs" Burke, in 1995. They started small, selling CDs out of a van in New York City.

Their big break came with the release of Jay-Z's debut album "Reasonable Doubt" in 1996, which was a commercial success and helped establish the Roc-A-Fella Empire as a major player in the hip-hop industry.

The label's success can be attributed in part to Dash's business acumen and ability to navigate the music industry, which allowed him to secure deals with major labels and secure distribution for Roc-A-Fella's artists.

Dash's lawyers claimed that Carter's action was "completely meritless" since Dash never claimed to sell or dispose of any interest in the copyright to the Reasonable Doubt album.

The two sides settled and stipulated that no shareholder has any individual rights to Reasonable Doubt, effectively putting an end to Dash's attempt to auction his shares.

Dash admitted in a recent interview that he was trying to auction his Reasonable Doubt shares in 2022 to fund his other businesses.

The judge essentially ruled that the bylaws Carter put in place in 2021 don't apply, allowing Dash to sell his private property.

Dash is now seeking to auction his Reasonable Doubt shares again, but this time without control over the auction.

The judgment was ordered in 2022, and Dash has yet to pay, so a Judge recently ordered him to turn over his shares of Roc-A-Fella to the US Marshal's Service within 180 days.

Roc-A-Fella Records co-founders Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Kareem "Biggs" Burke attempted to block the recent ruling, but U.S. Magistrate Robert W. Lehrburger ruled against them, noting that the board-approval clause was instituted at a 2021 Roc-A-Fella Inc board meeting that Dash wasn't present for.

Dash's share of Roc-A-Fella Inc., which includes a one-third interest in the company that owns Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt album, is up for auction.

The starting price for the shares was $1.2 million, but it's now up to $3 million.

Dash has been trying to sell his shares for a while, and in 2022, he attempted to auction them off as an NFT, but Carter and Roc-A-Fella Records Inc. successfully received a restraining order to block the sale.

Dash has since admitted that he was trying to auction off his shares to fund his other businesses.
